Fools for God
The bird above is called a Blue-Footed Booby Bird. It is believed their name derived from the Spanish word ‘bobo’ which means stupid & how the Spaniards viewed the clumsiness of the birds on dry land. Male birds show off their feet to prospective mates with a high-stepping strut. David’s wife Michal also must have viewed David in the same way the Spaniards viewed these birds as David danced before the ark of the covenant. She called him a “vulgar fellow” for dancing in front of the slave girls. Verse 21 says, “And David said unto Michal, it was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore, will I play before the Lord.” Are we willing to be a blue-footed booby bird dancing before the Lord? Are we willing to make fools of ourselves to bring glory to God?
