About “Glory Road”

It was Christmas time in Nashville Indiana. I walked into an old antique store downtown. I heard this song playing. It just came to me out of nowhere, the rhythm.  I could not hear the words but the music drew me to the song.

I was searching for something new for an old song.  Something to give it new life but to tell its story different to a new generation of people who had never heard it.

I knew if I did this song this way I would probably shake things up a bit.

Years ago, when I was a kid, I remember how the old women in my dad’s church would always sit in the same place and God helps you if you sat in “their spot”.  Some days I would go during Sunday school and move their pillows they sat on to another place and sat back and watched the fun as they discovered that someone had moved their pillow. Yes, I’m the preacher’s kid who did that.

I’ve moved this song on a lot of people, but it’s still the same song just told differently to a new crowd of people. it still says “I can see the lights of home, I can see him on his throne. I’m too near to turn back now. Well, praise the Lord I’m heaven bound!”

I just moved the pillows around again for some doing this song this way. The Bible says “rejoice and again I say rejoice!” Can I get an amen?
